Amure Hair Studio
Marquarite Motton is the owner of Amure Hair Studio.
Let's Get to Know Marquarite.
What’s your story?
My journey began styling hair at the age of 13 in my mom’s kitchen. I became known in the area for my style, techniques and service. I began taking cosmetology seriously at the age of 16 or 17 and took classes to get my license to sharpen my skills. My passion for cosmetology grew and so did my desire to provide services in multicultural salons, and now in my own building (Amure Hair Studios). I later noticed that there was a shift and the need for a Total Wellness approach to hair care was now necessary. The hair and scalp are small pieces of total wellness and if I wanted to truly help the community, then I needed to focus on more than those two areas. That’s when I began my Trichology journey.
Trichology is the scientific study of hair and scalp that includes the structure, function, disease, and treatment. Trichologists are not doctors; they use microscopic and visual examinations to assess the hair and develop a personalized treatment plan. My Trichology journey brought forth the rebranding of Amure Hair Studio to Amure Hair Studio & Hair Restoration Clinic, which is a full-service salon and trichology clinic rooted in care, transformation, and community. My business was born out of love, resilience, and the desire to give others confidence and healing through haircare.
What inspired you to start your business?
My love for the cosmetology industry is what inspired me to start my business. I understood that there was a need in the community for more than hair care. There is a need for a safe place, especially for those who are facing hair loss due to medical conditions, stress, and cultural practices.
How has your unique identity contributed to your business?
My servant heart is my Superpower. I serve my clients with sensitivity, empathy, and life experiences in every service I offer. I understand how hair is tied to identity and self-esteem. That understanding shapes everything from the way we consult with clients to the customized treatment plans we provide. I work to transform them from inside out because beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
How do you ensure that your studio maintains a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers?
At Amure, we offer a Christ inspired judgment-free space where people of all backgrounds, hair textures, and hair conditions are served with respect. We offer diverse product lines, and we make sure everyone feels seen, heard and acknowledged.
Why did you decide to open a business in Fredericksburg?
In my heart, Fredericksburg is home. It’s a community rich in history, diversity, and growth. I saw a real need here for holistic hair care, especially around scalp health and hair loss. Opening in Fredericksburg meant I could bring something meaningful to a community I care deeply about.
What is your favorite part of owning a business in Fredericksburg and being a part of this community?
My favorite part is the people. I witness lives transform not just through hair restoration, but through the confidence and joy that comes with it. Fredericksburg is full of supportive, loyal, and engaged individuals. Especially during COVID, the community ensured that my doors stayed open. To me that act is a big deal. It’s an honor to serve them and grow alongside them.
How do you keep going when times get tough?
Faith, purpose, and community. I remind myself of why I started. I lean into my support systems, pray, and push forward knowing that what I do is bigger than just hair, it’s about restoring hope.
If you could share one message with the community, what would it be?
You are not alone. Whether you’re facing hair loss, life transitions, or self-doubt, healing is possible. You deserve to feel confident, loved, and whole. And there is a space here at Amure that’s ready to walk with you through your journey.
