She-Lease-A-Party
Angelique Reynolds-King is the owner of She-Lease-A-Party.
Let's get to know Angelique.
What’s your story?
Growing up, my mother was always the party planner for family events from birthdays and weddings to family reunions. She did not have a lot of money to fund extravagant parties but she used her creativity to make each party uniquely perfect. It was always her dream to open her own business in which she joked would be called “She-Lease-A Party”, inspired by her first name, Shelisa. For Christmas last year (2024), I decided to turn her dream into reality.
What inspired you to start your business?
She-Lease-A Party was created in honor of my mother but my inspiration and motivation came from my husband. He always motivates me to take on the next challenge!
How has your unique identity contributed to your business?
Currently, there are quite a few event venue spaces in the area but not many that are intimate and affordable. Our mission is to provide an affordable venue space to help everyday people celebrate their family’s milestones.
What is your favorite part of owning a business in Fredericksburg and being a part of this community?
Though I am originally from Charlotte, NC, I moved to the Fredericksburg area a few years after graduating from college and have been here since. Fredericksburg has become my home not because I’ve lived here almost a decade but because the community has always been so welcoming. Though our journey is just beginning, the community has been my favorite part of being a business owner and the reason I have made Fredericksburg my home!
How do you keep going when times get rough?
When times get rough, I make sure to take a step back and ground myself. I intentionally invest in myself spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally because working full time, being a wife, mother, daughter, sister can be exhausting. I also remember that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and everything we go through in life is preparing us for the next best thing so I walk in faith knowing that greater is coming!
If you could share one message with the community, what would it be?
I have always been a laser focused person who rarely celebrated the small wins but rather would spend that time preparing for the next thing to accomplish. As a result, I missed out on a lot of the small achievements because I took them for granted. So, I would say:
“Life is too short, celebrate the small things”
