Interstate-95 carries over 150,000 vehicles per day in Fredericksburg, it cuts through the western portion of the city, providing important access to other markets along the East Coast. It is also an important asset for the city’s strong tourism industry.
State Route 1 runs north-south through the city; it was the main artery before the completion of Interstate 95. State Route 3 runs east-west through the linking U.S. 301 to the east and U.S. Route 29 to the west. State Route 2 together with State Route 17 (Business) meets State Route 3 into the city.
