Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of Fredericksburg and Culpeper and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford. Established in 1970, GCC has grown to four campuses throughout the region. Its enrollment consistently ranks among the highest in Virginia’s 23 community colleges.
Through system-wide agreements, students who graduate from one of Virginia's 23 community colleges with an associate's degree and a minimum grade point average may obtain guaranteed admission to more than 20 of the commonwealth's colleges and universities. The grade point average that's required varies depending on the institution to which the student is transferring. Getting an associate's degree at Germanna before going to a university or four-year
college can save tens of thousands of dollars and students are well prepared for
academic challenges they face elsewhere when they transfer.
The Arts & Sciences degree program is designed primarily for students who plan to transfer their coursework to a four year institution. Students may also plan to directly enter the workforce.
GCC offers many Nursing and Health Technology programs of study. In addition to its workforce initiatives, Germanna’s reaches out to the community in many other ways. Its engineering students have been trained to give community tours of GCC’s new high tech green buildings at the Fredericksburg Area Campus.
