EDA Public Art Sealed Bid Auction
The Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority (EDA) wishes to auction public art by sealed bid. The proceeds will be used for future public art investments. The six works of art being sold (see images below) were the first project between the EDA, Downtown Retail Marketing Inc. (DRMI) and the Fredericksburg Arts Commission. "Beautify the Burg" was funded by an EDA grant. The art was displayed along Caroline Street on a fence between Wally's Ice Cream and Bangkok Cafe for seven years.
The artwork will be on display in the auditorium of the Fredericksburg Visitor Center (706 Caroline St.) May 4 (May 4 is a First Friday) until June 7.
The artwork will be sold "as is" and measures approximately 40" x 56" each. The EDA will accept bids between May 4th and June 7 ending at 2 p.m. Read Arts Commission Statement on the auction.
Sealed bids should be delivered by hand or mailed to the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (706 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, VA 22401). The department is located on the second floor of the Visitor Center. Please mark your envelope as a sealed bid to the attention of Amy Peregoy.
